COUPAR Design is the residential practice of COUPAR, the San Francisco firm Krista Coupar founded in 2007. For nearly two decades, COUPAR has given architects, builders, and design studios the design, project management, and operational support behind their best work.
That work built lasting relationships with leading architects, builders, artisans, and vendors. COUPAR Design brings those relationships, and that discipline, directly to homeowners, with Krista leading every project personally.
Every home begins with listening: to a client's hopes, their hesitations, and the way they actually live. Whether it's a richly layered Edwardian or a spare, nature-driven retreat in Big Sur, the goal is the same: a home that holds everyday life, celebrations, and the passing years.
Meet the Founder
Krista Coupar // Founder & CEO
Krista Coupar comes from a family of scientists, and she runs her business the same way: observe, test, refine. An entrepreneur at heart, she studied English Literature and Psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno, then launched Woven, importing fabric directly from fabric houses abroad and building a loyal base of repeat clients.
In 2007 she founded COUPAR in San Francisco, which became the behind-the-scenes partner to leading architects and design firms for design production, project management, and business operations. Along the way she created the systems the firm is known for, including the COUPAR x Designer Engagement Module and a remote sample-review process that kept projects moving through the pandemic.
COUPAR Design brings that discipline directly to homeowners. Krista leads every project personally, assembling top-tier collaborators and guiding each phase with care and discretion. She meets every client where they are, from families settling into a new home to founders and early tech employees at pivotal moments in their lives.
